The Do Your Own Thing drama and dance group went to visit Laban on Saturday where we will be performing at the Big Dance Picnic on Saturday 23 June. As well as rolling down the green hills we tested out our new clown characters in this exciting performance space.

Mark and Esme went to the Embrace Create Connect Conference at the Richard Attenborough Centre in Leicester.  We met some great people from various companies (Carousel, Lawnmowers, Full Body and the Voice, StopGap to name a few) and gave a presentation about Heart n Soul - past, present and future - it was fun and was well received. Thanks to the Embrace crew for inviting us. Oh...here's a feedback tree (for Holly!) - think it must be Autumn - not many leaves!

We were flexing our creative muscles on Saturday at Do Your Own Thing getting ready for Squidz Club which is happening THIS Friday!! The sessions went really well and we are all in the mood for the Olympic and Paralymic theme.

The drama and dance groups have joined forces to rehearse a performance for the main space at Sqidz. They have raided the costume store at Heart n Soul and are looking pretty good!!

The music group have a band called the
Radical Racoons - here is a photo of them rehearsing.

REMEMBER - Squidz Club is this Friday, 7pm - 11pm at The Albany. See you there!

Here's the Front of House team at the last Squidz Club - can you guess what we'll be wearing at the next Olympic themed club?

Last night we had a Squidz training event for our Front of House team. The evening included a Heart n Soul quiz, role-play from Becky, Tilley and Del, and tea and biscuits of course! The front of house team, including some fab new volunteers are looking forward to welcoming you all to the club next Friday 16th March. We have had a great day recording some percussion overdubs for some of the new tunes that will eventually be on Lizzie's album.  Collaborator and top drummer/percussionist got the control room nodding and smiling as he laid down a particularly solid shaker track for the new tune called White Lies - hard to stand still when you hear this one!

Today the team had a fantastic session with Jim Carey who gave us a greater understanding of our lovely new protools studios - who knew soundwaves, hertz frequencies and XLR cables could be so interesting, so a big thanks to Jim. We also had a very mini recording session, so the dulcet tones your hearing is from our Cherry - doesn't she sound good?!

Do Your Own Thing session

 11th February 2012

It’s really cold outside but lots of us braved the weather to come to Do Your Own Thing today. We have had a busy day with lots happening…

Cameron was in the DJ group and played two songs by JLS and a song by Usher.

The VJ group created animations for the Squidz Club coming up on 16th March of different sports spinning around.

We had a visit from Jane Evans from the Jack Petchey Foundation who really enjoyed meeting everyone and was very impressed with the music group.
